I recalled another gem that we thought was hillarious at the time. I was part of a very small group working on sets and props for the Music Club's production of Gilbert and Sullivan's The Gondoliers. In Act Two there was to be a matching set of lavish thrones. Our leader decided the best and easist way to cover the thrones effectively was to make the padding with sanitary napkins. They were easy to staple into place and gave nice contours when material was draped and fixed in place. We had a great laugh thinking how they might explain certain boxes of items on invoices submitted by the scenery crew and how comfortable those romantic leads looked each night unaware of what was behind and beneath them.
