Appointment of Yvette Ali as Registrar
3 May 2016
I am very pleased to announce the appointment of Yvette Ali to the position of University Registrar at Victoria University. For the past four years Yvette has held the position of Associate Faculty Registrar and Director of Records and Enrolment at the Faculty of Arts and Science at the University of Toronto, where she has been responsible for policies and procedures related to records and enrolment and with the goal of improving student services. She also serves as the Associate Director of the University of Toronto Transcript Centre. Prior to that, from 2004-2012, Yvette held the position of Director of Professional and International Programs at Woodsworth College, where she managed the Summer Abroad Program, the Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, and Teaching in Higher Education.
Yvette brings to Victoria University a wealth of experience in all aspects of the Registrar’s role thanks to her many achievements in enabling student success and in implementing new initiatives. She has a thorough knowledge of both the wider registrarial landscape of the University of Toronto and of the personalized services possible in a college setting. Yvette assumes her new position on July 4, 2016. Please join me in offering Yvette a warm welcome into the Vic community.
I would also like to take this opportunity to offer heartfelt thanks to Susan McDonald, who will be retiring from the position of University Registrar this summer. Susan has been a central presence in our community, dedicated as she has been to helping Victoria students navigate the complexities of university so that they can truly flourish. Susan’s commitment to Vic will be honoured at a celebration to be held on June 28, 2016. I hope you will join me in thanking Susan for her phenomenal contributions to Victoria University.
