In recent years, there has been an increase in the number of offers for tree and bench donations on Victoria University’s campus. While we are grateful for all such offers, donors are asked to note that Victoria’s campus is small and, therefore, may not be able to accommodate all requests.
The Memorial and Tribute Giving Program has two options:
1. Tree Donations (two types)
a) Plant a new tree on campus: $5,000
Donations of new trees on campus will be accepted only if new plantings are required. Space for new trees on campus is extremely limited and, therefore, requests for new tree plantings may not always be accepted.
All requests for new tree plantings are to be directed to the Office of Alumni Affairs and Advancement. The Office works closely with donors and the Physical Plant Department to select a suitable location.
A minimum of donation of $5,000 is required to cover the cost of purchasing and planting a single tree, including a standard plaque and perpetual maintenance. Plaques will, when possible, be located in close proximity to the donor’s tree.
Victoria University does not accept donations of live tree specimens.
b) Plaque an existing tree: $5,000
The number of existing trees on campus available for plaquing is limited; therefore, each request will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Donors may suggest a particular tree, or a general area; however, Victoria University cannot guarantee that the donor’s preferred tree will be the one selected for plaquing.
A minimum donation of $5,000 is required to plaque an existing tree on campus and for perpetual maintenance.
2. Bench Donations: $5,000
Donations of new benches on campus will be accepted only if they are required. In most cases, plaques will be placed on existing benches.
All requests for bench donations are to be directed to the Office of Alumni Affairs and Advancement. The Office works closely with donors and the Physical Plant Department to select a suitable location.
A minimum donation of $5,000 is required to cover the cost of purchasing and installing, and/or maintaining, an approved bench, whether new or existing. A standard plaque will be affixed to the bench.
