Position Summary:
We are Food Services at Victoria University, in the University of Toronto.  We provide a variety of event services to our internal and external clients. We are looking for dedicated, enthusiastic and skilled event staff on a casual basis. There are no guaranteed hours; shifts can be available from 6:00am until 2:00a.m. and applicants must be available seven days a week for all shifts, short shifts, short notice calls and statutory holidays.   The following types of duties are to be performed including: plate service, buffet service, bartending, event setup/close and portering.
Qualifications Required:

High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience. Food Handlers, Smart Serve, Bartending and St. Johns Ambulance certificates required for various positions.

At least two years’ experience in the food and beverage hospitality industry, with emphasis on event and catering operations.

Applicants will report directly to the Lead Hand/First Cook/manager on duty. They must have excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively in English (oral, reading and written). They must have excellent customer service skills. Applicants will ensure Victoria University Events are presented to all clients and guests in a professional and welcoming manner. Other duties as assigned can include but are not limited to: ensure event locations are properly setup and cleaned; preparing linen and banquet supplies for service; ensuring events are setup and food and beverage orders are delivered on time; informing supervisors of any material or client needs that must be immediately addressed. May be required to perform additional/or different responsibilities as directed by a supervisor.
